Message from the Chairman of the Board
The State of the Foundation
The Foundation office is beginning to return to “normal.” The Clinic is open and seeing patients, serving the Island as we recover from Hurricane Ian which devastated Boca Grande on September 28th. Our doctors are on duty 24/7, prepared to provide primary healthcare and emergency treatment to clinic patients and the Island community.
March 2023 will mark the 20th anniversary of our Foundation which was established to assure the fiscal stability and sustainability of the Boca Grande Health Clinic. Twenty years later, I am happy to report that the Foundation remains well-positioned to carry out our mission of supporting the Boca Grande Health Clinic, our incredible Island resource dedicated to providing high-quality healthcare to our community.
During the past year, we have been working closely with the Clinic preparing to roll out a 5-Year Master Plan which has recently been approved by the Clinic Board of Trustees. This plan is the result of a comprehensive study of staffing, operations, services, and procedures and will guide the Clinic’s strategic program over the next several years. There will be some new and exciting initiatives that will enable the Clinic to better serve our community in the future.
The 2021-2022 Annual Fund effort concluded with record donations of $1.8 million. This campaign is critical to our ability to support the on-going operations of the Clinic, and we sincerely appreciate and thank our 700 generous contributors.
We welcomed 27 new major donors who gave or pledged at the $25,000 or higher level. In recognition and appreciation of their generosity, we are now sponsoring 371 Boca Grande major donor families in the Healthnetwork GOLD support plan. This provides our members with unique access to the most prestigious healthcare institutions in the United States.
Finally, in May, we mourned the loss of an ardent, loyal supporter of the Clinic. During his tenure of service, Peter Nicholas served on the Clinic Board of Trustees from 2013 to 2018 as Vice Chair and Chair, and in 2019, he joined the Executive Committee of the Foundation. Pete gave generously of his time, energy and financial support, and his wise advice and counsel will be missed.

Since I moved to Boca Grande in January 2018, I hope to never have to move again, and one of the major reasons (if not the most salient) is the Boca Grande Health Clinic. Even considering relocating seems out of the question, particularly as I, my friends and acquaintances, deal with the aging process.
75th Annual Flag Raising Ceremony
The 75th Anniversary flag raising ceremony held in March 2022 was an opportunity to pay tribute to the legacy of healthcare on the island. We honored those who have come together over the years to support the Clinic and recognized the important work of today’s Clinic team.
