From Foundation to Walls: Watch a Time-Lapse Video

Even with more than five inches of rain this month—much of it in the past two weeks—construction on the Clinic of the Future moves forward at a steady pace.

Since our last update on August 15, when the foundation was poured, the progress has been impressive. The cinder blocks are going in, reinforced with rebar, and the framework for the entry arches is now in place. The new entry arches will echo the design of the existing Clinic. Three full trucks of cinder blocks have been laid so far, reaching up to what will become the second floor. Each day, a team of 13–15 skilled workers is on site, carefully bringing the design to life.

What’s next?

The next major milestone will be the placement of the steel beams that will support the second floor.

Did you know?

  • The new clinic will have three negative-pressure exam rooms to provide state-of-the-art infection control to help protect patients, visitors, and caregivers.
  • It will also include a retail pharmacy with prescriptions filled right on the island—faster, easier, and just steps from your doctor.
